Set up the Zapier trigger for new file uploads
5 min read
The “New file in folder” trigger is the workhorse of Anchor Cloud’s Zapier app — point it at a client-deliveries folder and every upload can post to Slack, add a row to a sheet, or kick off an approval flow.
- 1 In Zapier, create a Zap and choose Anchor Cloud as the trigger app, with the “New file in folder” event.
- 2 Connect your account using the API key from Settings → Apps → Zapier (generate one if the field is empty).
- 3 Pick the workspace, project, and folder to watch. Subfolders are included by default — untick “Include subfolders” to watch one level only.
- 4 Upload a test file to the folder, pull in the sample, and map its fields (file name, uploader, size, share link) into your action step.
The trigger fires for new files only — edits and re-syncs of existing files don’t re-fire it. On Zapier’s free plan it polls roughly every 15 minutes; paid plans get near-instant delivery.
