Restore a previous version after an accidental overwrite
3 min read
Every save — whether from the web app or the desktop sync client — creates a version, kept for 180 days without counting against your storage pool. An accidental overwrite is annoying, not fatal.
- 1 In the web app, right-click the file and choose “Version history”. Versions are listed with timestamp, author, and size.
- 2 Click any version to preview it before committing — useful when several saves happened close together.
- 3 Hit “Restore”. The restored version becomes the new current file, and the overwriting version stays in history too, so restoring is itself reversible.
- 4 Whole folder clobbered? Open the folder’s ⋯ menu → “Folder history” to restore many files to a single point in time at once.
This works even when the overwrite came from someone else’s sync client — versions record who made each change, which also settles the “who overwrote the final cut?” question.
